Let Go

Imagine yourself as a subway driver in the busy hub of Seattle, every single second of clock ticking means the entering and leaving of thousands of passengers. You parked in a subway station. Never knowing who are going to enter, where are they going, why you happen to be the driver, and what is the purposes of all these? Maybe there isn’t a purpose? Things occur out of mere coincidence? Similarly, your journey of life is filled with passengers, always. People come in and go out. They maybe family members, friends, lovers, mentors, even the strangers who you talked to in a coffee shop. Human has the innate desire to be socially connected. Each time you have a new passenger, the experience is always enriched with a strong flux of initial excitement and ended with a sudden pause of regretless and nostalgia. Such cycle of feelings scales with the time and feelings you’ve developed with this person. I am a strong believer that these experiences are destined, unique and are here to give you a message and lesson that only you can benefit from it. Therefore, next time when this person is drifting apart, recognize that this person is a passenger. Be appreciative of those who departed your train; and be thankful for those who stay. Regardless, it is a miracle that anyone meets anyone out of the probability of 1-out-of-8 billion, and any common memories created by any two individuals are, perhaps, a gift. Remember, your life is always filled with passengers. Beauty lies in the embrace of new experience; Happiness lies in the recognition of love; Strength lies in the ability of letting go.
